Proposition 65 – “Right to Know” Warning

Important Information for California Residents

What is Proposition 65?

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (“Proposition 65”) requires businesses to provide a “clear and reasonable” warning before knowingly and intentionally exposing anyone in California to a chemical that the State of California has listed as causing cancer, birth-defects or other reproductive harm. 

These listed chemicals may be present in many everyday products, and the law enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures.

Our Products & California Warning

Our apotheogenic chocolate spreads (and related products) are sold or shipped into and/or within California. Although we have taken steps to ensure product safety and compliance, some of our products may contain ingredients or occur in manufacturing/packaging processes that contribute to exposure to one or more chemicals listed under Proposition 65.

Therefore, as required by law, we provide the following general warning:

This product can expose you to chemicals including [insert chemical name(s) here], which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

This warning is provided regardless of whether the exposure level from normal use is above or below the state’s “no-significant-risk” or “maximum allowable dose” thresholds. 

What This Means for You

• The fact that this warning appears does not mean that the product is defective, unsafe, or that we are certain harm will occur. It means that the State of California has determined that a chemical listed under Proposition 65 is present in or associated with one or more overlapping aspects of the product, manufacturing, or packaging.
• If you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are otherwise concerned about reproductive health, you may wish to consult your physician or health-care professional.
